Ecotrek Ballybunion was set up to cater for visitors from around the World, each year visitors came to Ballybunion to visit the strand one person they looked for and sought out was Danny Houlihan local historian of Ballybunion. Danny Houlihan is the Author of Ballybunion's first History Book Ballybunion An illustrated History by the Irish History Press. Danny is not just a historian and well known guide but an All Ireland Piping Champion as well who entertains visitors with the pipes and Low whistle while on a tour with him is always done with great reception from all.

All tours are arranged so that the visitor gets the  maximum time in the natural areas of Ballybunion to see the hidden parts of North Kerry its glens valleys its wildlife areas while being told the stories and hear the music and see when the see the wildlife areas around them within the planned tour of its eco system and heritage.

Ecotrek is not just any tour guided tour, the foundations of Ecotrek is its enviromntal statement to conserve the enviroment and with this research its hidden eco systems and heritage and bring it to a wider public with sustainable practices to safe guard the environment while taking  tours into  the Ballybunion and country areas. All tours can be pre arranged by the visitor walking day trips of a short nature to a long walk  or a cycle into the country side of Beale & Asdee, historical films are shown to to all to enhance the visit and ensuring that all have seen the hidden Ballybunion and North Kerry Wild Atlantic Way these films are produced and researched by Danny Houlihan and are only shown for the visiting groups. 

Geological visits to the strand in Ballybunion can be arranged for the kids to see the rock formations and fossils in the area also in the package, so we at Ecotrek are always looking for something new and interesting for our visitors both young and mature to see there is something to suit everyone.

All tours can be 'stand alone" or a day tour or combined with our eco tourism colleagues on the Wild Atlantic Way all of these individual eco projects have all undergone a ecotourism certification for assured quality in our individual fields.

Ecotrek Tours are designed with minimal impact on the environment so not to damage the natural habitat of birds and wildlife of the area, all visitors are asked to respect the Leave No Trace Policy which is in place by Ecotrek.

All profits of tours are put back into the daily operation of the tours and a donation of one euro is deducted from all tours towards Bird Watch Ireland please support this cause.
